For the second year in a row our web developer John has qualified for the UWCT World Amateur Time Trial Championships. The qualification event for this was on Saturday 4th of June at the Tour of Cambridgeshire Chrono Time Trial.

In order to qualify John needed to be within the top 25% of his age group. The 19-34 is the most competitive group of them all with many young and aspiring cyclists looking for the next step up in the sport. Representing Grantham?s local cycling club Witham Wheelers he finished 27th in his age group with a time of 40:14 well inside the qualifying band.

John finds his time cycling and training for these events as a good release from being glued to the computer screen day in and day out and gives him a great balance to come back to work rejuvenated. He often has some of his best development ideas and programming problem solving whilst out on the bike where he has plenty of time to reflect on any nagging coding issues throughout the day.

He has his own personal coach Stefan Lawrence of TRI-SL who helps get him prepared for his races by creating bespoke tailor-made training programs to make sure his time on the bike is spent efficiently.

This year the UWCT World Championships are to be held at the start of September in Perth, Australia.
